⚠️ TYSON’S JOSLIN, ILLINOIS CLOSURE MATTERS
Tyson Foods has announced plans to end operations at its Joslin beef facility as part of a broader restructuring of its beef network. The company cited ongoing cattle supply constraints and limited herd replacement.
We’re thinking of the workers, their families, and the local cattle producers who will feel the impact. When a major regional processing facility closes, producers may face fewer nearby options, longer transportation routes, and less flexibility when it’s time to market livestock.
This is why independent regional processors matter. Local processing helps keep agricultural dollars closer to home, gives livestock producers another dependable option, and strengthens the connection between local farms and local families.

🧭 FIRST TIME USING CUSTOM PROCESSING? HERE’S THE SIMPLE PROCESS.
If you’re new to custom butchering, no problem, we’ll walk you through it.
1️⃣ DROP OFF
• Hogs: Tuesday, 12–3 PM
• Beef: Thursday, 12–4 PM
Before unloading, provide your name, email address, and cell phone number.
2️⃣ SUBMIT YOUR CUTTING ORDER
Use the Grazr app to tell us exactly how you want your animal processed.
• Beef orders are due by Wednesday following drop-off.
• Hog orders are due by 3 PM the day after drop-off.
3️⃣ AGING & PROCESSING
We age and process your meat to your specifications, with careful, professional butchery from cooler to final package.
4️⃣ PICKUP
We’ll notify you when your order is ready. Please pick it up within 72 hours of notification, unless you’ve made other arrangements with us.

We want to be honest with our customers and community about an upcoming price increase.
The cost of keeping a small, local meat-processing business operating has continued to rise. Payroll, utilities, packaging, seasonings, equipment maintenance, waste disposal, insurance, and other everyday expenses all factor into what it costs to process each animal properly.
After carefully reviewing our numbers, we found that our current prices are no longer enough to cover these costs and keep Sheffield Locker operating for the future. Raising prices is never an easy decision, but it is necessary for us to retain dependable employees, maintain our equipment, provide safe and reliable processing, and continue serving local families and farmers.
This increase is not about taking advantage of anyone. It is about charging what it truly costs to do the work and keeping a local butcher shop in our community for years to come.
We sincerely appreciate your business, your understanding, and the trust you place in Sheffield Locker. We will continue working hard to provide the quality, service, and personal attention you expect from us.
